Ledger Denies it Collects Personal Data About its Users

Carl Anderson, vice president of consumer product development at Ledger, a maker of LEDGER hardware wallets, has said the company does not collect information about its customers, with the exception of de-identified public data.

According to him:

«The way we’re computing the assets protected by Ledger devices is 100% anonymous and using public data.»

He has said the company processes the information transmitted through Ledger Live to its nodes in the Bitcoin and Ethereum networks and has explained the analysis of this data allows the company to calculate the amount of assets stored in the hardware wallets.

He has also added that to ensure greater privacy, users can run their own node and configure the application to use it. Andersen has reminded that Ledger Live is open source software.

Ledger raised $380 million in June last year and reached a valuation of $1.5 billion. At the time, the company said its devices secure 15% of all the world’s digital assets.
